Asus ROG Launches 48GB DDR5 RAM Kit with "ROG Mode"

Asus has officially entered the computer memory market, unveiling its first branded RAM modules under the Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. The initial offering, dubbed the ROG Edition 20, is a 48GB dual-channel kit built with SK Hynix M-Die chips and rated for DDR5-6000 CL26 speeds. Priced at approximately $880 (£660/5999 CNY), this high-performance kit represents Asus' significant expansion into core PC components.

What sets this RAM apart is its proprietary "ROG Mode," accessible on compatible Asus ROG Crosshair, Maximus, and Strix motherboards. This feature allows users to select between two distinct profiles: aggressive DDR5-6000 timings of 26-36-36-76 for maximum responsiveness, or a higher bandwidth DDR5-8000 configuration with timings of 36-48-48-110. Beyond ROG Mode, the kit also supports standard Intel XMP and AMD EXPO profiles, ensuring broad compatibility with various gaming platforms.

Aesthetic and Anniversary Design

The ROG Edition 20 RAM kit boasts full RGB illumination, controllable via Asus Aura Sync, adding a customizable visual flair to any build. Commemorating ROG's 20th anniversary, the modules feature a striking aesthetic combining gold, silver, black, and red metallic accents. The RAM itself is manufactured by Shenzhen-based Biwin, a company known for its memory solutions. This special edition memory was revealed during the same 20th anniversary event that showcased the ROG Crosshair X870E 2006 20th Anniversary Edition motherboard, creating a visually cohesive high-end system package.

The introduction of Asus-branded RAM is a notable move for the company, which has historically focused on motherboards, graphics cards, and peripherals.
