ASUS is expanding its Republic of Gamers (ROG) lineup with two cutting-edge OLED gaming monitors designed for competitive play. The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20, a 26.5-inch display, celebrates ROG's 20th anniversary with unique styling and advanced features. Alongside it, the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace arrives as a 24.5-inch monitor specifically engineered for professional esports athletes.

Both monitors utilize Tandem WOLED panels, offering glossy surfaces and impressive refresh rates. The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 can operate at QHD resolution at a blistering 540Hz or switch to HD mode for an extraordinary 720Hz. It also boasts a rapid 0.02 ms response time, DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, and VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification. With 99.5% DCI-P3 color coverage and true 10-bit color depth, it promises exceptional visual fidelity.

The ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace focuses on a more traditional esports format, featuring a 24.5-inch panel with a Full HD (1920x1080) resolution and a 540Hz refresh rate, also with a 0.02 ms response time. ASUS highlighted this monitor as the world's first 24.5-inch OLED specifically crafted for professional esports. Development of the XG259QWPG Ace involved feedback from partnerships with major esports organizations like BLAST and PGL, ensuring it meets the demands of top-tier competition.

Tailored Features for Competitive Play

ASUS has integrated several features to enhance the competitive experience on the XG259QWPG Ace. The stand includes measurement markings, allowing players to precisely replicate their preferred monitor setup when switching between different gaming environments. A Quick OSD menu provides faster access to essential display settings, critical for quick adjustments before a match. For players transitioning from older TN panels, the monitor offers three dedicated Esports Color modes designed to optimize image settings for competitive scenarios while preserving the motion clarity and response advantages inherent to OLED technology.

The inclusion of these specialized modes reflects a deeper understanding of the esports ecosystem. Competitive gamers often have very specific visual preferences, and adapting existing monitor technology to these needs is crucial. ASUS's effort to create these modes, combined with the input from professional players and organizations, aims to bridge the gap between the technical superiority of OLED and the practical requirements of high-stakes gaming.

Both new monitors also incorporate ASUS OLED Care Pro features to mitigate the risk of screen burn-in, a common concern with OLED technology. The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 is equipped with an adjustable Neo Proximity Sensor. This sensor intelligently dims the display when the user steps away from their desk, reducing strain on pixels during periods of static image display, thus extending the monitor's lifespan.

The technological advancements in these new ROG monitors underscore the rapid evolution of gaming display technology. As refresh rates climb and response times near instantaneous, the boundaries between virtual and real become increasingly blurred for players. The focus on both high resolution and high refresh rates, alongside specialized software features, shows ASUS's commitment to catering to the diverse needs of the modern gaming community, particularly within the demanding esports arena.

The introduction of these 540Hz OLED monitors signifies a major leap in visual performance for gamers. With the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 and the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace, the company is pushing the envelope for what is possible in gaming displays, aiming to provide a competitive edge through superior image quality and unparalleled speed.
