LG OLED TVs Get New Creator Original Picture Mode with Prime Video
LG is rolling out a new "Creator Original" picture mode for select 2026 OLED TVs in partnership with Prime Video. This feature aims to deliver visuals precisely as creators intended.

LG is introducing a new picture mode called Creator Original for some of its 2026 OLED television models, developed in collaboration with Prime Video. This new format, slated for release by the end of July 2026, will be available on the LG C6, G6, and W6 Series OLED TVs. The rollout coincides with the upcoming Prime Video release of "Masters of the Universe." The Creator Original mode is designed to enhance the viewing experience by prioritizing the visual intent of content creators, akin to existing modes like Filmmaker Mode but with a distinct approach.
Unlike Filmmaker Mode, which typically disables most picture processing to present content as unadulterated by the display, Creator Original allows processing but ensures it adheres strictly to the creator's specifications. This means that aspects such as color balance, shadow detail, motion handling, and noise reduction are all calibrated based on direct input from the content's originator. While the initial launch is tied to "Masters of the Universe," the hope is that Amazon will extend this specialized format to a broader range of its library content.
Evolving Picture Standards
The introduction of Creator Original also arrives as enhanced HDR formats are on the horizon. Dolby Vision 2 and Dolby Vision 2 Max are expected by the end of 2026. Dolby Vision 2 introduces features like Precision Black, which aims to preserve near-black detail in dark scenes without compromising overall image contrast or clarity. This focus on shadow detail preservation echoes a key aspect of LG's Creator Original format. Furthermore, Dolby Vision 2 Max is targeting the premium market, planning to enable creators to add motion interpolation—the smoothing of motion—to films and shows on a scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame basis. LG's Creator Original format, which also addresses motion handling and noise reduction, appears to be a strategic move to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving landscape of television picture technology.
This initiative from LG, a long-established manufacturer of OLED TV technology, represents a significant effort to push the boundaries of smart TV features. In a market where user interfaces often become cluttered with advertisements, such advancements in core viewing technology are notable. The collaboration highlights a renewed focus on picture quality and creator intent, moving beyond the user interface and into the fundamental visual experience. It underscores the ongoing innovation in display technology aimed at providing viewers with the most authentic and immersive entertainment possible, ensuring that the content they watch looks exactly as the artists and directors intended.
