SpaceX has scheduled more than 70 launches for 2026, marking a record year for the private spaceflight company. The cadence reflects CEO Elon Musk's push to accelerate Starlink satellite deployment, conduct crewed missions, and test hardware for deeper space exploration. As of September 2026, the company has already completed 45 launches, maintaining an average of one mission every 2.5 days.

The bulk of 2026 activity centers on Starlink constellation expansion. Each Falcon 9 rocket carries 60 internet satellites to orbit, and SpaceX has prioritized reaching 10,000 active satellites by year-end. This expansion is critical to the company's revenue model; Starlink now generates over $1.4 billion annually in subscriber fees across North America, Europe, and emerging markets.

Starship Testing and Lunar Milestones

Beyond the bread-and-butter Starlink missions, SpaceX's Starship vehicle is entering operational testing phases. Three integrated flight tests are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, with the goal of demonstrating rapid reusability. Starship is designed to carry up to 150 metric tons to low Earth orbit and serve as the primary launch system for space exploration missions.

NASA has selected SpaceX to develop Starship variants for lunar landings under the Artemis program.
