Asus Unveils ROG Strix XG129C Secondary Display for Gamers
Asus has launched the ROG Strix XG129C, a 12.3-inch touchscreen IPS display designed as a companion for main monitors. It aims to compete with similar secondary screen solutions for streamers and creators.
Asus announced Friday the release of its new ROG Strix XG129C, a 12.3-inch touchscreen IPS display positioned as a secondary monitor for gamers and content creators. The device is designed to complement a primary display, similar to the integrated secondary screen on Asus's ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 laptop from 2020. This new offering enters a market segment previously occupied by Corsair's Xeneon Edge, which features a 14.5-inch display, though both share a 720p resolution.
The ROG Strix XG129C boasts impressive color accuracy, covering 125 percent of the sRGB color gamut and 90 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut. Buyers will also receive a one-year subscription to AIDA64 Extreme, a hardware monitoring tool typically valued at $65. This integrated software allows users to track PC performance in real-time, enhancing the utility of the secondary display beyond simple screen extension.
Enhanced Productivity and Streaming Capabilities
Beyond its role as a performance monitoring tool, the XG129C serves as an extension for various professional setups. Its touchscreen functionality makes it a versatile addition for streamers looking to manage their broadcast software, similar to the popular Elgato Stream Deck, or for video editors needing quick access to editing tools and timelines. The compact size makes it easily integrate into existing desk setups without significant space requirements.
In addition to the XG129C, Asus also revealed the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS, a larger 34-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor. This display features a rapid 280Hz refresh rate and a 3440 x 1440p resolution. Asus claims it achieves 99 percent DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, making it suitable for both high-fidelity gaming and professional color-critical work. Pricing details for both new monitors have not yet been officially released by Asus.
