Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 is poised to make its debut on July 22nd, but leaked renders shared by Android Headlines offer an early glimpse into the device's design and key specifications. The latest leaks reveal a notable shift towards a wider external display and confirm several internal components ahead of the official Galaxy Unpacked event.

The renders depict the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in three familiar colorways: Cream, Graphite, and Lavender. A "Pistachio" shade is also rumored to be a Samsung.com exclusive, though official confirmation and images of this variant are anticipated at the launch. The external 5.5-inch QHD+ display sports a 16:10 aspect ratio, a change that promises a more traditional smartphone feel compared to the ultra-tall screens common today. This wider aspect ratio is expected to enhance usability for everyday tasks.

Internally, the foldable boasts a larger 7.6-inch QHD+ main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. This configuration aims to improve the media consumption experience, offering a less cramped viewing area than the nearly square screens found on many current-generation folding phones. Gamers may also see benefits, with potential scaling improvements for titles like Balatro.

Design and Physical Dimensions

Despite the altered external display dimensions, the overall physical characteristics of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 remain consistent with previous generations. The device measures 9.7mm thick when folded and 4.5mm when unfolded, weighing approximately 200 grams. Samsung has made strides in reducing the thickness and weight of its foldables, making the Galaxy Z Fold 8 competitive with other high-end smartphones.

Under the hood, the foldable is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, featuring Samsung’s custom "for Galaxy" optimizations. This will be paired with 12GB of RAM, and storage options are expected to start at 256GB, with 512GB and 1TB variants also available. However, leaks suggest that a configuration with 16GB of RAM might not be offered.

A 4,800mAh battery is expected to power the device, supporting 25W charging speeds. This charging capacity is notably slower than some competitors, hinting that Samsung may reserve its fastest charging technology for a potential future "Ultra" foldable model. The consistency in design and the familiar specifications suggest a refinement of the existing foldable formula rather than a radical departure.

The anticipation for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, alongside other potential announcements at the July 22nd event, highlights the continued evolution of the foldable smartphone market. As manufacturers refine designs and internal components, consumers can expect increasingly capable and versatile devices.
