Honor Magic V6: Foldable Phone Boasts Snapdragon 8 Elite
Honor's Magic V6 foldable smartphone arrives with a redesigned internal structure, IP68/IP69 water resistance, and the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It also features enhanced connectivity with Apple devices.

The new Honor Magic V6 foldable smartphone has officially launched, building upon its predecessor with significant internal redesigns and enhanced durability. This latest device aims to set a new standard for foldable phones, incorporating the cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
Honor has focused on refining the internal architecture of the Magic V6, shaving off millimeters from its thickness. This redesign includes updated components such as the antenna, speaker chamber, vibration motor, NFC module, and USB-C housing. These optimizations also allow for a substantial 6,660mAh silicon carbon battery, which Honor claims offers long-term durability despite its high silicon content.
The device is equipped with 15GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This combination promises exceptional performance, with the phone described as capable of zooming, gliding, and sprinting through tasks, making it ideal for demanding applications like mobile gaming.
Enhanced Durability and Display Features
One of the most notable upgrades is the inclusion of IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, a significant step for foldable devices which are often vulnerable to environmental elements. Honor states the cover glass is 33 percent more resistant to impact than the previous model and can withstand wet weather conditions. The main 7.95-inch AMOLED display features a 2,352 x 2,172 resolution with a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, while the crease on the screen is designed to be minimally visible. The external cover screen is now a 6.52-inch AMOLED with a 2,420 x 1,080 resolution, benefiting from slightly reduced bezels.
The software experience is powered by Honor's MagicOS 10, based on Android 16. For users in the European Union, Honor is providing seven years of software and security updates. While MagicOS offers a functional interface, particularly on the cover screen, users may find some multitasking features less intuitive on the primary display, especially when dealing with applications that don't fully support split-screen functionality.
Honor is also emphasizing the Magic V6's interoperability with other ecosystems, particularly Apple devices. The phone can forward notifications from iPhones and iPads, and sync Apple Watch alerts in return. A standout feature is the ability to pair AirPods and access native controls, effectively making them function as if they were connected to an Apple device. Additionally, the Magic V6 can connect to macOS computers, allowing users to manage phone files and photos directly from their laptops or desktops via Honor's Workstation app. This integration is touted as being more seamless than managing iPhone files on a Mac.
The camera system on the Magic V6 remains largely consistent with its predecessor, featuring a 50-megapixel f/1.6 primary lens, a 50-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel f/2.5 lens with 3x optical zoom. While capable, the cameras are noted to perform adequately but do not surpass those found on conventional flagship smartphones, with areas for improvement in portrait mode subject separation and digital zoom processing.
