Apple's upcoming iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max models, slated for a 2027 release, might boast significantly larger displays. A new leak suggests screen sizes could increase to 6.4 and 7 inches respectively.
Apple may be planning to significantly enlarge the displays on its premium iPhone models for 2027, a year marking the iPhone's 20th anniversary. According to a tech insider known as Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 20 Pro could feature a 6.4-inch screen, while its larger counterpart, the iPhone 20 Pro Max, might expand to a 7-inch display. These devices are anticipated to launch in September 2027, three months after the original iPhone's debut on June 29, 2007.
The source, which has a track record for accurate leaks regarding mobile devices, shared these potential screen size increases on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. Currently, the latest iPhone Pro models feature 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, expected to be released in August 2026, are also rumored to maintain these dimensions. This potential expansion for the iPhone 20 series marks a notable shift for Apple's flagship smartphone design.
Next-Generation Display Technology
Beyond just larger screens, reports suggest the iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max could adopt a novel quad-curved design, potentially eliminating visible bezels entirely. This design would create an immersive viewing experience where the glass wraps around all four edges of the device, offering an uninterrupted display. The aim is to present a seamless glass surface without the traditional border that frames most smartphone screens. Despite the increased dimensions, it is reported that the phones will maintain their current aspect ratios.
Apple last significantly increased its Pro model screen sizes two years ago, with the iPhone 16 Pro moving to 6.3 inches from 6.1 inches, and the Pro Max to 6.9 inches from 6.7 inches. The move towards larger displays aligns with a broader industry trend and user behavior.
