Pokemon Pokopia's "Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin" launches August 5, introducing an underwater town with new Pokemon, building mechanics, and a free version 2.0.0 update adding the Dive move.

Pokemon Pokopia is set to make a splash with the August 5 release of its first major downloadable content, "Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin." This eagerly awaited update introduces a vibrant new underwater environment for players to explore, alongside a significant free software update, version 2.0.0, launching the same day.
The Bubbly Basin expansion transports players to a submerged settlement where unique gameplay mechanics await. Here, players can cultivate watermelons with the assistance of Water-type Pokemon and utilize Pokemon with the Generate specialty to power bubble machines or illuminate the town with streetlights. The update also promises the discovery of more Pokemon species, new cosmetic outfits for trainers, an enhanced version of the move Surf, and the addition of smoothies as a new prepared food item.
Underwater Exploration and Building
Adventurers can descend through a newly discovered hole in the seabed, venturing into the deep sea shrouded in darkness. Following glowing coral will guide players on an exciting journey alongside their Pokemon companions. Building capabilities are also significantly expanded in Bubbly Basin, featuring buoyant blocks that allow for the creation of structures capable of floating at various levels, offering unique architectural possibilities only achievable underwater. Players can even construct a Sharpedo-themed submarine, transforming it into a personalized Secret Base.
Beyond the first part of the expansion, details for "Expansion Pass Part 2" have also been revealed. Scheduled for release in late 2026, this upcoming content will allow players to adorn themselves and their Pokemon with new accessories. Part 2 will also introduce more furniture items and additional Pokemon, with further information to be shared at a later date.
The accompanying free version 2.0.0 software update, available to all Pokemon Pokopia owners on August 5, will introduce the coveted move Dive. Players will be able to learn this ability from Manaphy, enabling them to swim alongside Water-type Pokemon and engage in underwater construction. This integration of underwater traversal and building mechanics is a significant addition to the gameplay experience, expanding the world of Pokemon Pokopia.
The introduction of Bubbly Basin marks a new chapter for Pokemon Pokopia, offering players fresh environments and deeper engagement with the game's world. The focus on underwater exploration and building suggests a commitment to expanding the game's strategic elements and creative potential. Players who have enjoyed the core mechanics of the game are likely to find the new aquatic challenges and customization options particularly engaging.
