Bowers & Wilkins 800 D5 Series Debuts with Flagship $65K Speakers
Bowers & Wilkins unveils its fifth-generation 800 Series Diamond, featuring seven new models. The flagship 801 D5 floorstander commands a price of $65,000 per pair.

Bowers & Wilkins has launched the fifth generation of its renowned 800 Series Diamond range, introducing seven new speaker models that include floorstanding, standmount, and center channel configurations. The flagship of this collection, the 801 D5, is priced at $65,000 per pair, underscoring the brand's commitment to high-fidelity audio.
The 801 D5 features a three-way design, combining a Diamond Dome tweeter with a 6-inch Continuum Cone FST midrange driver. This driver is housed within B&W’s distinctive Turbine Head enclosure, while two 10-inch Aerofoil cone drivers handle the bass frequencies in the main cabinet. A significant internal update for the D5 generation is the introduction of Space Frame Bracing, a new system utilizing parallel aluminum rails to reduce vibration and cabinet resonance. The speaker also sports a revised aluminum top plate and a new tweeter grille mesh, both derived from the company's Signature model for improved acoustic transparency.
Sharing much of the 801 D5's design philosophy, the 802 D5 also utilizes the Turbine Head layout and the 6-inch FST midrange driver. However, it is equipped with a pair of 8-inch Aerofoil bass drivers instead of the flagship's 10-inch units. Like its larger sibling, the 802 D5 benefits from the new Space Frame Bracing, the updated aluminum top plate, and the Signature-specification tweeter mesh. B&W positions the 802 D5 as a proportionally similar option to the 801 D5 but at a more accessible price point.
Architectural Innovation in the 804 D5
The 803 D5, the most compact floorstanding model in the Turbine Head series, incorporates a 6-inch Continuum Cone FST midrange driver within its own isolated head enclosure. Below this, two 6.5-inch Aerofoil bass drivers are integrated. This model also receives the benefits of the Space Frame Bracing and crossover enhancements found in the larger speakers.
Where the D5 generation makes a notable architectural departure is with the 804 D5. This three-way floorstander eschews the Turbine Head design for a more conventional cabinet. However, Bowers & Wilkins has integrated an internal aluminum enclosure specifically for the Continuum Cone FST midrange assembly. The company explains this design is rooted in the Turbine Head principle, aiming to mechanically isolate the midrange driver and provide a consistent decoupling point. The objective is to elevate the 804 D5's performance closer to that of its Turbine Head counterparts while maintaining a lower profile cabinet aesthetic. This move represents a significant engineering effort to balance sonic performance with visual design.
The 805 D5, a two-way standmount speaker, features the Diamond Dome tweeter paired with a 6.5-inch Continuum Cone bass/midrange driver. While the Space Frame Bracing is not applied to this model due to its enclosure geometry, it does incorporate the Signature-specification tweeter mesh, upgraded crossover components, and new wiring harnesses, reflecting a consistent application of technological advancements across the line.
Across the entire 800 Series Diamond D5 range, Bowers & Wilkins has implemented Enhanced Matrix bracing, a system employing thick aluminum sections around each drive unit aperture to reinforce the front baffle. The crossovers have been significantly upgraded with components sourced from the company's Signature loudspeakers, and new, higher-quality cabling is used throughout the range. The series is available in four new finishes: Stealth Black, Warm White, Light Walnut, and Dark Walnut. Shipping for the new series is scheduled to begin on September 9th, 2026.
Completing the lineup are two center channel speakers for home theater setups: the HTM81 D5, designed to complement the 801 and 802 D5, and the HTM82 D5, which pairs with the 803 and 804 D5. Dedicated speaker stands, the FS-805 D5 and FS-HTM D5, are also available for the standmount and center channel models, respectively. The pricing for the full range is extensive, with the 801 D5 at $65,000, the 802 D5 at $45,000, the 803 D5 at $35,000, the 804 D5 at $25,000, and the 805 D5 at $15,000 per pair. Center channel units range from $12,000 to $15,000.
