Minimal Phone 2 Features OLED Display, Upgraded Keyboard, and 5G

The Minimal Phone 2, the highly anticipated successor to the distraction-focused smartphone, has been officially previewed, showcasing a significant redesign and upgraded features. The first official look at the device, revealed in a YouTube teaser, indicates the Minimal Phone 2 is smaller than its predecessor. Available in two color options, the phone continues to feature a physical QWERTY keyboard, which the manufacturer states has been improved. A notable departure from the original Minimal Phone, which utilized an E Ink display to encourage reduced screen time, the Minimal Phone 2 now incorporates an OLED panel. This change allows for a richer visual experience, supporting video playback, gaming, and social media use, though it may also increase the potential for prolonged engagement.

The placement of the front-facing camera has also been adjusted; it is now situated above the OLED display, a change from its position below the Alt button on the first-generation model. The rear of the device retains a single camera setup with an LED flash, and the phone boasts an aluminum body. The company, Minimal Company, originally launched its first smartphone in 2024 with the goal of minimizing digital distractions by focusing on essential functions through its Android-powered E Ink display and QWERTY keyboard.
