NVIDIA has officially retired its long-standing NVIDIA Control Panel for GeForce users after two decades of service, marking a significant shift in how gamers and creators manage their graphics settings. The company confirmed that all actively supported features for GeForce Game Ready and Studio Drivers have now been fully integrated into the newer NVIDIA app. This transition concludes a multi-year migration effort aimed at consolidating NVIDIA's software offerings.

The GeForce Control Panel, a staple for graphics configuration since its inception, will no longer receive new features or updates for general GeForce users. While existing installations will remain functional until a clean driver installation, NVIDIA is directing users to the NVIDIA app for all current and future graphics management needs. The company also noted that users who still require the legacy panel can download it from the Microsoft Store, but it will be in a maintenance-only state for GeForce users.

Future of Graphics Management

This move is part of NVIDIA's broader strategy to streamline its software ecosystem. The NVIDIA app was initially introduced in 2024 as a unified replacement for GeForce Experience and parts of the classic Control Panel, aiming to offer a more modern and integrated user experience. Recent updates, including a significant one in August 2025, have progressively moved functionalities like 3D settings, multi-monitor configurations, Surround support, Advanced Optimus controls, and offline access into the new application. For GeForce users, the NVIDIA app now serves as the central hub for driver updates, per-game settings, DLSS overrides, display controls, overlays, and GPU tuning.

However, users with NVIDIA RTX PRO graphics cards will see continued support for the NVIDIA Control Panel. The company stated that it will continue to support the legacy panel for professional features until these are fully migrated to the NVIDIA app. This distinction ensures that professional users, who often rely on highly specific and stable configurations, are not immediately impacted by the retirement.

The migration signifies NVIDIA's commitment to a unified software platform, aiming to provide a more cohesive and efficient experience for its user base. The retirement of the NVIDIA Control Panel marks the end of an era for many PC enthusiasts who have relied on its extensive options for fine-tuning their gaming and creative workloads. The move is expected to simplify graphics management for the majority of users, while NVIDIA continues its development of advanced features within the new NVIDIA app ecosystem.
