NVIDIA is reportedly reviving its plans for a GeForce RTX 50 SUPER series refresh, potentially targeting a 2026 release. This comes after earlier speculation suggested the lineup had been put on hold. The new wave of graphics cards is expected to focus heavily on increased memory capacity, according to recent industry leaks.

The refreshed series may see the return of models like the RTX 5070 SUPER and RTX 5080 SUPER, with their core specifications unchanged from previous leaks. A notable new addition to the rumored lineup is a 12GB variant of the GeForce RTX 5060. This model could potentially be released under a different name, such as the GeForce RTX 5060 SUPER, but the 12GB memory configuration on a 128-bit bus is a significant detail.

Memory Upgrades Drive SUPER Refresh

A key focus for the upcoming SUPER refresh appears to be the adoption of higher-capacity GDDR7 memory modules. Previous rumors indicated that the RTX 5080 SUPER and RTX 5070 Ti SUPER could feature 24GB of GDDR7 VRAM, while the RTX 5070 SUPER might come with 18GB. These configurations would likely utilize 3GB GDDR7 memory chips, an upgrade from the 2GB chips found in current-generation cards. The potential 12GB RTX 5060 would achieve this capacity using four 3GB GDDR7 modules, maintaining its 128-bit memory interface without compromise.

The re-emergence of the RTX 50 SUPER series follows a period of uncertainty. Earlier in 2026, reports suggested that NVIDIA had paused development due to factors including demand for compute GPUs and challenges with memory availability. While the memory supply situation is reportedly still not fully resolved, NVIDIA is believed to be mitigating this by providing AIC partners with bundled GPU and VRAM packages.

NVIDIA itself has not officially confirmed any details regarding the RTX 50 SUPER lineup. Recent major announcements from the company, including its GTC and Computex keynotes, have heavily emphasized artificial intelligence developments and its RTX Spark platform, with little to no public discussion about upcoming consumer GeForce GPUs.

The original NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series, based on the 'Blackwell' architecture, has already seen the release of flagship models like the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. The RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti have also launched, filling out the mid-range segment. The SUPER refresh is widely expected to introduce performance and memory upgrades to existing tiers, aiming to compete effectively in the enthusiast and high-end gaming markets throughout 2026 and beyond.
