Xbox August Update: Game Pass Cloud Saves, 360 Hubs Arrive

Microsoft rolled out its August 2026 system update for Xbox on August 12, introducing several enhancements beyond routine performance tweaks and bug fixes. A significant improvement for Game Pass members means they no longer need to wait for games to fully download and update if those titles are also available via cloud streaming. Players can now opt to launch a game using cloud gaming and then set it to update in the background once they've finished playing. Complementing this, the update introduces the capability to restore previously synced cloud saves in compatible games. Currently, this feature is supported in 'Forza Horizon 6,' with Xbox confirming plans to expand compatibility to more titles in future releases.

Enhancements for Xbox 360 and Game Management

Owners of Xbox 360 games will find new dedicated game hubs, providing a centralized location to track achievements and access other relevant information. The update also refines the display of Xbox 360 achievements, offering more detailed pop-up information and integrating older Windows Phone game achievements into the user's history. For all gamers, managing wishlists has become more streamlined. Users can now add both upcoming and released titles directly from their game cards, and the maximum capacity for wishlisted games has been increased to 1,000. Additionally, a new badge clearly indicates if games or add-ons are part of a subscription service, simplifying content identification.

For those whose consoles do not update automatically, the new features can be accessed by navigating to Settings > System > Updates and initiating the update manually. While these additions offer a welcome improvement, they arrive during a period of significant corporate transition for Xbox.
