Atlus has unveiled two new character trailers for the upcoming remake of its beloved 2008 role-playing game, Persona 4 Revival. The videos, released Friday and Sunday, focus on the game's silent protagonist and fan-favorite character Rise Kujikawa, respectively. These trailers offer fans a glimpse into the refreshed visuals and character portrayals set to arrive in the highly anticipated title.

The remake is set to feature a completely new English voice cast, with Abby Trott confirmed to be voicing Rise Kujikawa. This announcement highlights Atlus's commitment to reimagining the classic title for a modern audience. In addition to the voice acting, Atlus revealed on Saturday that the acclaimed animation studio MAPPA, known for its work on hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan, will be responsible for all animated cutscenes within Persona 4 Revival. This collaboration promises to bring a high level of visual fidelity and dynamic animation to the game's narrative sequences.

A New Look for a Classic Story

Persona 4 Revival is scheduled to launch on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC with Xbox Game Pass, and PC via Steam. The game is currently available for pre-order, allowing eager players to secure their copy ahead of release. The original Persona 4 first captivated players on the PlayStation 2 in 2008, and its enhanced version, Persona 4 Golden, later arrived on the PlayStation Vita in 2011. The franchise has since spawned numerous successful spin-off titles, including the fighting games Persona 4 Arena and its sequel Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, as well as the rhythm game Persona 4: Dancing All Night, demonstrating the enduring popularity of its characters and universe.

This remake follows the successful launch of Persona 3 Reload in February 2024, another reimagining of a classic entry in the series. Persona 3 Reload was released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Windows and Steam, also being available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. The momentum from Persona 3 Reload's reception indicates a strong market interest in updated versions of Atlus's iconic JRPGs. The franchise's consistent output, including the widely successful Persona 5 which shipped in 2016 and 2017, with its enhanced Persona 5 Royal version releasing in 2019 and 2020, and a Nintendo Switch release in 2022, underscores Atlus's strategy of revisiting and revitalizing its core titles.

The decision to remake Persona 4, a game celebrated for its compelling narrative, memorable characters, and distinctive art style, reflects a broader trend in the gaming industry of bringing classic titles to contemporary hardware and audiences. With advanced graphics, modern gameplay enhancements, and the high-quality animation provided by MAPPA, Persona 4 Revival is poised to offer both longtime fans and newcomers an immersive experience. The inclusion of a new English voice cast also aims to provide a fresh perspective on the beloved story, making the game accessible and engaging for a new generation of players.
