Physicist and author Carlo Rovelli has sharply criticized what he describes as the "naive realism" prevalent in analytic philosophy, asserting that this perspective fails to adequately grapple with the subjective nature of human experience and the intricate workings of the universe.
In a recent commentary, Rovelli, known for his work on quantum gravity and his bestselling book "Seven Brief Lessons on Physics," argues that many analytic philosophers cling to an outdated view of reality, one that assumes a direct, unmediated correspondence between our perceptions and the external world. "Analytic philosophy, in its dominant tendency, seems to have inherited this illusion, treating the world as a straightforward collection of objects that we perceive straightforwardly."
