Samsung Galaxy Watch Gets AI Health Upgrades for Smarter Wellness
Samsung announced a major update to its Health app, turning the upcoming Galaxy Watch into an AI-powered health companion. New features offer personalized insights into sleep, activity, and heart health.

Samsung Electronics is set to transform its upcoming Galaxy Watch into an intelligent health partner with a significant update to the Samsung Health app, slated for rollout starting June 8. This enhancement aims to translate complex biometric data into easily understandable and actionable guidance, making daily health management more intuitive.
Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, "Samsung Health is evolving to connect health data measured by Galaxy Watch with AI-based insights, enabling users to understand their physical and mental condition more easily and intuitively." He added that the company plans to expand proactive and personalized health management experiences through its connected Galaxy ecosystem and digital health innovations, signaling a step toward a comprehensive, AI-driven health platform.
New Features for Proactive Wellness
The update introduces several key features designed to provide users with deeper insights into their well-being. The new Vitals feature analyzes five critical overnight bio-signals—heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen—against a user's resting baseline. It intelligently notifies users only when significant deviations are detected, helping them identify potential issues like illness or the need for rest without causing alert fatigue.
Evolving from last year's Vascular Load metric, the Heart Health Score offers a unified daily score that combines insights from sleep, stress, and activity with body composition data. This consolidated score aims to clearly identify habits impacting long-term well-being and provide immediate clarity on cardiovascular health. For fitness enthusiasts, Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain during aerobic exercise, calculating daily load and maximum training capacity to recommend optimal training targets and rest periods, thereby preventing burnout and injury.
Furthermore, the Fitness Index tracks exercise routine effectiveness by comparing metrics like heart rate and VO2 max against peer data. This allows for the identification of individual strengths and weaknesses, enabling the delivery of tailored content and personalized goals for continuous improvement.
The Samsung Health app itself is also receiving a design overhaul, simplifying the user experience by organizing information into five core pillars: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals. The Home screen will now prominently display daily wellness tips alongside an AI-powered Energy Score, offering a centralized view that demystifies health management and illustrates the interconnection of various daily routines.
Beyond these headline features, Samsung is enhancing existing capabilities. The Antioxidant Index provides a clearer understanding of nutritional intake through new trend charts and daily history logs, visually linking dietary choices to physical responses over time. The AGEs index has been improved to work passively overnight, building a long-term profile of how lifestyle choices accumulate in the body. A new Hearing Health feature will also monitor surrounding ambient noise through the Galaxy Watch, offering personalized analytics to protect hearing in noisy environments.
These advanced features are designed to work seamlessly within the expansive Samsung Galaxy ecosystem, integrating health data across mobile phones and connected devices.
