Google Pixel Tag: New Tracker for Android Phones Arrives

Google officially unveiled the Pixel Tag, its long-anticipated answer to Apple's AirTag, on August 13, 2026. Additionally, the Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology enabling Precision Finding—providing exact distance and direction to a misplaced item—requires an Android device with UWB support. This includes Google's own Pixel Pro models and certain Samsung Galaxy S and Z Fold series phones.

Beyond its tracking prowess, the Pixel Tag is built to withstand everyday challenges. It boasts an IP67 rating, meaning it is both dust-tight and resistant to splashes. Google further specifies that the device can endure submersion in up to 3.28 feet (1 meter) of water for a duration of up to 30 minutes without suffering damage. Powering the Pixel Tag is a user-replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery, which Google estimates will last approximately one year under typical usage.
